This Privacy Policy describes how Eatopia (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Eatopia mobile application (the “App”). Eatopia helps you log meals, track nutrition and wellness goals, and—when enabled—receive AI-assisted insights about your eating habits.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the App, and—where you grant permission—information from your device.
2.1 Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive and may store:
- Google account identifier
- Display name
- Email address
- Profile photo URL
- Sign-in timestamps
Authentication is handled through Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication.
2.2 Meal and nutrition data
When you log meals, we may collect and store:
- Meal photos you capture or select from your gallery
- AI-generated or manually edited nutrition analysis (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, meal name, ingredients, and related fields)
- Date and time the meal was recorded
- Optional capture metadata (see Section 2.6)
Meal photos may be sent to Google Gemini (Google AI) for analysis when Gemini mode is enabled. Images are resized before analysis. We do not use your meal photos to train public AI models; processing is performed to provide analysis results to you.
2.3 Goals, wellness, and body metrics
Depending on how you use the App, we may store:
- Daily, weekly, and monthly calorie and macro targets
- Water intake logs
- Height, weight, BMI-related profile data, and weight history
- Wellness focus plans (goal type, target weight, dates, progress, and episode history) — Pro feature
2.4 Sleep-related data (Pro, Android)
If you use Pro sleep features on supported Android devices, the App may process device usage and battery-related signals to infer sleep windows, quality indicators, and trends. This may require granting Usage Access in Android system settings. We do not read the content of other apps—only usage timing patterns needed for sleep inference.
2.5 Subscription and purchase information
If you subscribe to Eatopia Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play (or the Apple App Store on iOS). We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive and store:
- Subscription status (active/inactive)
- Product identifier (e.g.
eatopia_pro_monthly) - Purchase tokens or receipts needed to verify entitlement
2.6 Device, app, and location metadata
With your permission, or when needed for App functionality, we may collect:
- Device platform, OS version, model, and manufacturer
- App version and build number
- Timezone offset
- Approximate or precise location (GPS/network) and reverse-geocoded place labels when you log meals or sign in—only if you grant location permission
2.7 Notifications preferences
If you enable reminders, we store your notification preferences locally (e.g. hydration interval, meal reminders, tone selection). Scheduled notifications are delivered on your device; we do not operate a push-notification marketing server.
2.8 Information we do not intentionally collect
- Government ID numbers
- Health records from hospitals or clinicians
- Contacts, SMS, call logs, or microphone recordings
- Precise continuous background location tracking unrelated to features you use
3. How we use your information
We use collected information to:
- Provide core App features (meal logging, dashboards, trends, goals, body metrics, water tracking)
- Authenticate you and sync data across sessions when cloud sync is enabled
- Analyze meal photos and generate nutrition estimates via Google Gemini when configured
- Deliver Pro features such as wellness focus, AI wellness briefings, and sleep insights
- Verify and manage Pro subscription status
- Send local reminders you configure
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on your jurisdiction, we process personal data based on:
- Contract: to provide the App and subscriptions you request
- Consent: for optional permissions (camera, photos, location, notifications, usage access)
- Legitimate interests: to secure the App, prevent fraud, and improve features—balanced against your rights
- Legal obligation: where required by law
5. Where data is stored

Firebase services may process data in data centers operated by Google. Data location depends on your Firebase project configuration.
6. Third-party services
The App integrates with service providers that process data under their own policies:
- Google Sign-In & Firebase — authentication, database, file storage (Google Privacy Policy)
- Google Gemini / Google AI — meal image analysis (Gemini API Terms)
- Google Play Billing — in-app subscriptions on Android
- Apple In-App Purchase — subscriptions on iOS (when available)
We share only the data necessary for these services to perform their function.
7. Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions:

You can revoke permissions in your device settings; some features may stop working.
8. Data retention
- We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the App.
- Local data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data.
- Cloud data may persist until you delete it or request deletion, subject to backup and legal retention requirements.
- Subscription records are retained as required by app store and tax regulations.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase security rules, and app store–managed payment flows. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data (edit meals, profile, and goals in the App)
- Delete meals and account-related cloud data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (permissions, notifications)
- Export your data where technically feasible
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Account deletion: You may sign out at any time. To delete cloud-stored data, contact us or delete your Firebase-linked account data through available in-app or support channels. Uninstalling the App removes local data from your device.
11. Children’s privacy
Eatopia is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. International users
Eatopia is operated from India and may be used globally. If you access the App from outside India, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where our service providers operate, including the United States and other regions where Google Cloud data centers are located.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
